Our mission
Open Packaging Network exists to make packaging markets transparent. We build data tools and AI co-workers that give packaging buyers, converters, and finance teams the same market intelligence their counterparts in financial markets take for granted. Every procurement decision should be grounded in live data, not supplier-controlled information asymmetry.
What we build
PackIndex is our live commodity intelligence platform — tracking 80+ indices across three layers of the packaging supply chain, from raw pulp and polymer feedstocks through to finished corrugated boxes, flexible pouches, and rigid luxury packs. PACKIQ is our AI co-worker platform — 78 digital specialists grounded in live PackIndex data, running negotiation briefs, quote analysis, cost forecasts, compliance audits, PFAS state mapping, USMCA origin checks, and bio-material assessment in under 60 seconds.
The problem we solve
Packaging prices are negotiated in the dark. A procurement manager agrees a board price without knowing that OCC has moved 8% in the past three weeks. A converter quotes a flexible pouch price using last quarter's BOPP cost. A CFO builds a budget with no view on whether polymer costs will rise or fall over the next 6 months. We built PackIndex to end that information gap — systematically, for the whole industry.
The three-layer model
We built a price cascade connecting raw commodity inputs (L1 — pulp, polymers, metals, energy) through semi-finished intermediates (L2 — board grades, film grades) to finished packaging unit benchmarks (L3 — corrugated box, flexible pouch, rigid box, label, etc.). No other free public source makes this connection visible in one place.
The contributor model
PackIndex is sharpened by its community. Packaging professionals submit directional market signals via Pulse — price direction, volume band, lead time, supplier mood — across every index category. These signals are anonymised, aggregated into a diffusion score, and applied as a real-time sentiment overlay on top of the quantitative model.
The company
Open Packaging Network is operated by Polimex Trade Inc. (Reg. 737573816), a packaging trade and technology company headquartered in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Founded by packaging industry veterans who built their careers in procurement, converting, and supply chain management.
