What it does
Submit your packaging BOM (materials, quantities, specs) and current standard costs. The agent recalculates each line at live PackIndex prices and shows where your standard cost diverges from market. Output is a COGS variance table by material, highlighting the highest-exposure lines.
Example use case
A manufacturer's standard costs for corrugated boxes were set in January at $0.46/unit. By April, the live PackIndex CORR index has moved to $0.487/unit. The agent recalculates all 8 corrugated SKUs, showing a $0.027/unit adverse variance across 2.4 million annual units — $64,800 COGS exposure not yet reflected in standard costs.
